This Deluxe pack is perfect for starting to equip yourself with a high-performance, budget-friendly 144 / 430Mhz ham radio walkie-talkie.

It includes 1 TYT TH-UV88 walkie-talkie covering the FM band from 144 to 146MHz (5 Watts) and from 430 to 440MHz (4 Watts) and the following accessories: 1 Nagoya NA-771 (39cm) antenna in SMA male, 1 battery 1400mAh, 1 battery HP 3200mAh, 1 hand-held microphone with built-in speaker, 1 headset and 1 USB programming cable.

The TH-UV88 walkie talkie has an 88-108 Mhz FM radio, a led lamp and the following functions: 200 programmable channels, CTCSS / DCS, 1750 Hz call tone for relays, encoding / decoding DTMF, 2 and 5 tones, standby of 2 simultaneous frequencies, VOX function.

The range is 3 to 5km in open areas, a few hundred meters to 1km in urban areas open to the outside, and more than 10km on a high point in the mountains for example and in direct line of sight.

Compatible antennas to improve range: Choose an antenna with a SMA male connector such as Diamond SRH-771 (40cm), Nagoya NA-771 (39cm), Abbree tactical antenna (33cm or 48cm lenght only and with SMA male).

Use of 1750 Hz tone

To activate the tone 1750hz and trigger the opening of an amateur radio relay, you have to stay pressed on the button on the left side: Site Key 1 (above the PTT button). The walkie-talkie then goes into transmission and transmits the tone 1750hz.

Changing the VFO / Memory mode

To switch from VFO mode or memory mode, briefly press the # key in the lower right corner of the keyboard.

To save a memory channel

In VFO mode, enter the frequency to be recorded from the keypad or select the frequency with the one keys by pressing 【▲】or 【▼】and then press and hold the F key.

The channel number will flash on the right side of the LCD, press 【▲】or 【▼】to select the desired number, then press the # (radio) key on the keypad to save it.

To delete a memory channel

1) In VFO mode, press and hold the F key, the number will flash on the right of the LCD
2) Press 【▲】or 【▼】buttons to select the number of the channel you want to delete, then press * (lock) button to confirm.

Turn ON/OFF the flashlight

To turn on the flashlight, briefly press the Site Key 1 above the PTT button.

Turn ON/OFF the FM 88-108 Mhz radio

To turn on the FM radio, press and hold down the # key in the lower right corner of the keypad. To turn it off, press and hold down the # key.

Microprocessor version and firmware update

Due to the worldwide shortage of electronic components, TYT has changed the microprocessor of the UV88. There are now 2 versions of firmwares according to the 2 versions of the microprocessor. The functionalities and performances are identical between the 2 versions.

However the firmware of the first chipset (V1) is not compatible with the new version of the chipset.

To recognize the 2nd version (V2), a sticker in the form of a red dot is affixed to the back of the device on the chassis, by removing the battery.

The orange box at the level of the connectors of the battery is not this red point, this one is common to all the versions.

The serial numbers no longer follow the logic between the first or second version and there may now be first versions (V1), with serial numbers of the second version.

To avoid confusion in updating the firmware according to the 2 versions, a firmware file with an extension in .ICF concerns the V2 version, while a firmware file with an extension in .HEX concerns the first V1 version. The firmware update software is specific to each version.

To identify with certainty if it is a V1 or a V2, the mode of passage in DFU to update the firmware is different on the 2 versions:

On the first V1 version: Press the PTT button and the P1 button above the PTT button and turn on the walkie talkie.
On the first version V2: Press the PTT button only and turn on the walkie talkie.

The programming software and configuration files are compatible with all versions.

Reminder: The use of the TYT TH-UV88 walkie-talkie is subject to the user's compliance with the frequencies and legislation in force in the country of use and requires a radio license to be used legally in transmission. In case the radio is used outside the frequency bands indicated on the equipment, the walkie-talkie is no longer CE compliant and cannot be covered by the warranty.

Un kit complet pour débuter

Le kit radio est complet et permet de faire ses premiers pas en radio. Les notices et explications données sont très claires et le paramétrage de l’équipement est très facile j’ai utilisé le logiciel CHIRP sous MacOS et j’ai pu injecter le plan des fréquences pré établi. Je remercie Passion-Radio pour le choix du matériel et aussi pour l’ensemble des documentations !

Un très bon pack

Tout y est ! Juste à charger la batterie, le delocker, mise à jour le firmware si besoin et charger un fichier de fréquences via Chirp.

La compatibilité des câbles avec le Baofeng UV5R est un plus. Par contre au niveau qualité de l'audio il n'y a pas photo, c'est le jour et la nuit qui relègue le Baofeng UV5R au rayon des jouets...
