The M0CVO high power 1:1 Balun operates from 1.8 to 30MHz. It can handle up to 400W PEP (CW or SSB).
It is used to match a balanced antenna, such as a dipole, to an unbalanced feed such as coaxial cable. It also reduces the amount of static electricity picked up by the antenna and therefore the noise level heard at the receiver.
Simply connect one wire from the dipole to each of the two threaded terminals and secure with the wing nut. A crimping lug is provided for each terminal. Each leg of the dipole should also be threaded through the corresponding strain relief ring to prevent excessive stress on the terminals.
Attach your 50Ω coax feed to the SO239 (UHF female) connector at the base of the balun, raise the antenna to a reasonable height (a quarter wave at the lowest required frequency is optimal), connect the other end of the coax cable to your transceiver (via an external tuner).

IMPORTANT: Maximum power is indicated in PEP and is for amateur radio use in intermittent mode (CW or SSB) only.
Not suitable for AM broadcasting or constant carrier data modes (such as FT8 or RTTY) at high power (100W). For these modes, reduce power considerably (50W max recommended) to avoid overheating and damage to the balun. For full-power use in constant-carrier modes, opt for a QRO balun.
