The EMCOMM III Portable antenna from Chameleon is a portable antenna from 1.8 to 30 MHz, specially designed for short to long range HF communications (DX). It is suitable for amateur radio bands and use in travel, camping, SOTA, etc.

It is also suitable for military, governmental and emergency radio communication (EMCOMM, security and civil protection).

Configurable for use in NVIS vertical polarization, automatic link establishment (ALE), frequency hopping and spread spectrum. An antenna coupler (tuner) may be required depending on installation and frequency bands.

Deployable in less than 15 minutes, on all types of supports, without mast or guy wires.

Delivered with : 1x CHA EMCOMM III balun, 1x 22.25m copper plated KEVLAR wire (radiator) and 1x 7.6m copper plated KEVLAR wire (counterweight). Manual in French to download below.

Inverted L antenna / inclined wire

The inverted "L" configuration allows medium to long range HF via ground and skywave propagation. The inverted "L" and slanted wire configurations are excellent antennas for general use and are a good choice when two mounts are available (for the inverted "L") or one mount (for the slanted wire) and there is sufficient time to select and install the site.

Installation of the antenna at a height of about 7.6m or more will provide good performance. These configurations are primarily omni-directional on the low frequencies, slightly favoring the end of the antenna on the high frequencies.

Inverted V fed at the end of the antenna

The EMCOMM III portable antenna's end-fed inverted "V" configuration provides a medium range. The end-fed inverted "V" is a good compromise between performance and ease of installation because it requires only one center support, has a small footprint, and provides good skywave propagation.

The center should be mounted at a height of about 7.6m and when mounted at this height the antenna will be omnidirectional at low frequencies and mainly bidirectional at the end of the antenna at high frequencies.

NVIS Horizontal End-Fed Antenna

The EMCOMM III portable antenna is configured as a Horizontal End-Fed (NVIS) antenna, which allows for short to medium range. The Horizontal End-Fed configuration provides good NVIS propagation at low frequencies and average skywave propagation at high frequencies.

It requires two supports and should be mounted at a height of about 7.6m for good overall results. When mounted at this height, the antenna is omnidirectional at low frequencies and mainly bidirectional towards the ends of the antenna at high frequencies.
