RigExpert AA-55 ZOOM Bluetooth Analyzer 60 kHz to 55 MHz

rating No review at the moment

The RigExpert AA-55 ZOOM Bluetooth is designed to measure SWR (Standing Wave Ratio), return loss, cable loss, and other parameters of cable and antenna systems in the range from 60 kHz to 55 MHz .

A built-in ZOOM function makes graphical measurements particularly effective.

The following tasks are easily accomplished using this analyzer:

Quick check of an antenna, tune an antenna to resonance, comparison of the characteristics of an antenna before and after a particular event (rain, hurricane, etc.), realization of coaxial stubs or measurement of their parameters, cable test and fault location, measurement of cable loss and characteristic impedance, and measurement of capacitance or inductance of reactive loads.

Delivered with: 1 Rig Expert AA-55 ZOOM Bluetooth, 1 soft case, 1 USB cable, 1 user manual, 1 set of alkaline batteries.

Operation

The structure diagram of the Rig Expert AA55 ZOOM Bluetooth solution:

how-it-works

The "brain" of the analyzer is a 32-bit STM RISC microcontroller. It controls an Si5351 PLL chip operating at 500 MHz and generating two sinusoidal signals. The two signals are filtered by a low pass filter and then pass through pulse shapers, producing two square signals with CMOS levels.
The USB interface is used to connect the analyzer to the PC. The analyzer uses internal Flash memory to store measurement results (10 memory locations).

Detail view

Diagram of the resistive bridge and its connection to the mixer:

The switch which is controlled by the central unit feeds the signal from the certain side of the bridge to the mixer chip. When the load is fully active and its resistance is 50 Ω, the bridge is balanced and the switch emits the same signal in both positions. This eliminates the need to calibrate the analyzer, and also gives very good accuracy around SWR = 1.
