Data sheet

The radiating element is a five foot Firestik type antenna with our patented tunable tip mechanism. The core is 3/8 inch fiberglass wound with 19ga double insulated magnetic wire. The base of the antenna is made of 1/2 inch chrome plated hexagonal brass and has a standard 3/8-24 thread. The entire assembly is covered with a white PVC shrink sleeve.

The hub is a central assembly that connects the antenna, coax and radials. It consists of two circular metal discs, one upper and one lower. The upper disc contains the coax and the antenna coupling nut, while the lower disc is used to connect the four ground plane radials. The discs are mounted directly on top of each other with 3/4 inch spacers.

The coaxial cable supplied with the kit is a 5.5 metre RG-58A/U. It is a high quality, twisted centre conductor coaxial cable with an average shielding of 95% and above. A standard PL-259 connector is installed at one end of the coaxial cable for connection to the radio. The antenna end of the coax is equipped with a unique Fire-Ring connector for trouble-free operation.

The ground plane of the IBA-5 is provided by four (4) flat 25 mm x 76 cm steel radials. The radials are covered with black PVC heat shrink tubing and have a protective vinyl end cap on the outgoing end. At the hub end of the radial, a small hole is placed to attach the radials to the hub assembly.

Unfortunately, indoor antennas cannot, and are not intended to, transmit high frequency radio energy through all metal buildings.
